Friday Finds: LinkedIn Video, the Hubble Cantata, and Facebook against Ad Blockers

Written by Step Change | August 12, 2016

1. Videos Now Available on LinkedIn

The catch? Only about 500 out of its 433 million professional users were chosen to upload videos. For now. These high-profile global members, ranging from Bill Gates to Arriana Huffington, are called Influencers, and they can now post 30-second clips about business trends or any topic relevant to LinkedIn users, who can engage through commenting and sharing.

While we’re not on LinkedIn’s list of Influencers, this is a great way to connect and stay up-to-date with trends and relevant issues in our respective industries.

2. Hubble Cantata — A One-of-a-Kind Virtual Reality Experience

The 6th of August 2016 saw the premiere of the Hubble Cantata, the marriage of orchestra music and outer space. With a 20-piece ensemble, virtual reality film, and VR headsets, the 100-person audience was enveloped in space as they took a journey to the Orion Nebula.

Virtual reality has arrived.

3. Facebook Takes Action against Ad Blockers

The social network giant has announced that it has reprogrammed its tech so that ad-blocking software will not work on its desktop site. Also, Facebook has updated their ads preferences tools so site users will only see ads tailored to their interests.

This is another move against ad blockers from advertisers.
